May i take this opportunity to clarify a couple of matters, it may be covered else where but in the interests of clarity and understanding the comments are as follows.
i am a bailiff accountable to the lord chancellor's department, in essence i am an officer of the crown, all bailiffs who work attached to the local county are regulated strictly by the book, i have never met a bailiff so attached, breaking any rules procedures or the law as we know it, it just is not worth it for us in the long run, we are civil servants.
Private bailiffs on the other are of different ilk, they are attached to a Limited Company, and only answer to the greedy managing director who pushes the private bailiffs to recover more money thus the door is open to bend even more rules, majority of the time the directors of these companies are bailiffs them selves, they are driven by the massive amounts of money they generate in collecting parking charge fines, which brings me to my point,
please make a clear distinction between a PRIVATE BAILIFF AND A HMCS BAILIFF (CIVIL SERVANT) ATTACHED TO A COURT,
WHY?
Because Civil Servant Bailiffs for HMCS do not have the authority to collect parking charges, therefore the bailiffs that every other person who has a run in with, are and can only be private, remember they need that commission, if you offer a bonus to any person on any type of employment they are going to do all they can over and above their remit to collect the money legal or otherwise.
