Paying the Organ Grinder Instead of the Monkey I have recently decided to pay my council-tax arrears by instalments to the council because I am not prepared to deal with their bullying bailiffs. However, the council has so far refused to call off the bailiffs, although it has accepted my money, and has not even informed them of my many direct payments. My questions are: 1. How can I make the council take back the case from the bailiffs.? 2. Are they legally obliged to inform the bailiffs of my direct payments and how can I make them do so?

If you have paid the balance off to the council then there is no warrant in place and bailiffs have to back off.
